Teaching
I was fortunate to study at some of the top music schools in the US, including the New England Conservatory and the Eastman School of Music, with Paul Katz and David Ying. It is a privilege to pass on what I’ve learned, and equip my students to go as far as they want with their musical journey.

My top priority as a teacher is to equip my students with the tools they need to practice well so that they can achieve their musical goals while feeling fulfilled in the process. As we all know, consistent practice is the only way to make reliable progress, but the quality with which you practice is crucial! Being deliberate about exactly what to improve and how to make the improvement in an efficient manner is key. Another massive priority for me is building a great technical foundation in my students. I want them to have an ease and comfort with their technique, so that they can focus on playing the music they love! Ultimately, however, I want my students to feel more connected to the music they play, and use their technique in order to express themselves. That's the most gratifying part of music making: finding your own meaning in the music you play.
I always tailor my lessons to the needs, goals and pace of the individual student, but in general I use the Suzuki Books for beginner/intermediate level students. These books are great with getting acclimated with the basics of the cello, note reading, position changes, and providing a comprehensive repertoire that progresses gradually. If a student would like to work on a piece of their own interest, I'm totally open to that as long as they are at the appropriate level.
